Which CPR or First Aid course is right for me?
CPR for Family and Friends is a non-certificate course for those who want to know how to perform CPR skills but don’t need a certificate for their work. There is no written test. Mannequin practice is strongly encouraged. [2-1/2 – 4 hours depending on numbers and content]
Family and Friends First Aid for Children includes most of the topics in the Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid but in less detail. This is ideal for parents and grandparents. [2 1/2 hours]
Heartsaver ® CPR is a certificated course covering the skills of recognizing a cardiac emergency and being able to perform rescue breathing and CPR skills until professional help arrives. It is offered as Adult CPR and/or Child and Infant CPR. There is a short written test and skills demonstration. [3-1/2 – 4 – ½ hours]
Note: with the 2015 Guidelines, all CPR programs now must include adult and child CPR and use of the AED.
CPR/First Aid combines the skills of adult CPR with the various first aid skills needed until help arrives (bleeding, burns, falls, exposures to chemicals, heat and cold, insect stings and snake bite, etc.) This course may be combined with the AED course all in one sitting. It is our single most popular course. [4 – 4-1/2 hours]
Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid was designed with the child caregiver in mind. It covers interacting with children; preparation; rescue breathing; choking; asthma; allergic reactions; diabetic emergencies; seizures; shock; bleeding; mouth injuries; wounds; fractures and sprains; head and neck injuries; burns; environmental emergencies; CPR and may include infant CPR and AED use. [6.5-7.5 hours]
Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider is the course required by EMTs, nurses working in critical areas, life guards, etc. It includes adult, child and infant one and two rescuer CPR, use of airway adjuncts and the bag-valve-mask. AED is included as part of the course. [4 hour refresher course, 6-8 hours for initial certification]
All courses are taught by American Heart Association certified instructors in our employ. Pricing includes text books, instruction, practice materials, one-way practice valve and certification card.
We maintain detailed records of all classes for at least as long as the certification period. This means that if your company needs to demonstrate that you have trained personnel and you can’t find the records – we can!
We also participate in the AHA Online renewal skills demonstration programs for BLS for Healthcare Providers and Heartsaver® level courses.
